For sale here is an interesting piece from the Kapital label. Kapital reminds me a lot of the 45 rpm brand, in that they both do a lot of interesting things with indigo. Both labels also work outside of indigo, but their detailing is really strong and they tend to be informed by vintage clothing in their designs. Where Kapital is a bit different is in the variety of their offerings. They run a long gamut, where some of their stuff tends toward the hippy end of the spectrum, some of it on the super crazy indigo denim head side, and some of it somewhere in the middle. Quality and attention to detail are always a top priority for them, and theyre one of several labels that produce almost exclusively in the Okayama area of Japan. This is Kapitals take on the classic Lee 101 jacket. Being Kapital, theyve added a lot of their own unique twists here. First the dye: this is Kapitals No. As far as I can tell, Kapital produces their indigo in unique batches, where the different numberings denote a different style of indigo. 7 series is a combination of a sumi indigo base (in gray) and indigo blue threading. This is easily one of the more interesting Kapital pieces, where the main appeal is definitely in the fabric. The indigo dyed yarns are woven throughout in the sashiko style, a traditional Japanese weaving technique. The knit is super intricate and pleasantly uneven, which both gives the jacket a completely unique texture and makes it a lot of fun to just look at. Material feels like a 10oz denim or so. Not super heavy weight, but not quite summer weight either, and the knit adds a little bit of weight to it. Material is still pretty stiff, with no discernable fading or wear whatsoever. I believe it has been washed once to take care of any shrinkage, but otherwise is in excellent shape as you can see in the pics. Lots of other details here as well. Buttons are all brass and stamped. Arm cuffs actually open on the reverse which is a nice little feature. Rear has buttons on the back for adjusting the size. 7 tag is sewn onto the pocket flap. Size is labeled a 44 long, fitting a somewhat loose medium or a somewhat slim large. I wouldnt call this especially long, but it is a bit longer than their standard size. I measure the chest at 21, shoulders at 19, length at 25 and sleeves at 25 from the shoulder. The jacket comes in excellent shape with no holes, tears, stains or visible fading of the indigo.
