I noticed since last season that the zipper unzips itself from the bottom-up— This is obviously a malfunction which has just started and will eventually need repairing. WM sent me a repair request form. Repairing the zipper is a rather simple process of simply sending the coat to WM along with the repair request form (which I will include with the coat). There is an estimated 2-3 months time frame for repairs to be completed. WM informed me that. While the jacket is in overall great shape (with only three very tiny holes) and the zipper is functional as it is now, BE AWARE THAT THE ZIPPER SEPERATES ON ITS OWN (FROM THE BOTTOM UP) when zipped-thus becoming unzipped. Until this is fixed (which can easily be done) it could be a problem especially on any expedition type use where keeping warm is of the utmost importance. NOW ABOUT THE HOLES… Probably caused by hot cinders, but who knows… NO RIPS or TEARS!! As I said there are three that I see. All three are very tiny, the larger one had a down feather sticking out. To insure that I never lost any down-I placed regular old scotch tape over it. NEVER PULLING OUT ANY DOWN! I know its tempting-but I never did. Thats said, I’d say-at least 5 or six down feathers had to have come out at one time or another. IT SHOWS NO EVIDENCE OF DOWN LOSS WHERE THE HOLES ARE-OR ANYWHERE! Super comfy and extremely warm with absolutely NO COLD SPOTS or down shifting! Jacket has been worn mostly on summer backpacking trips to the high country. Although it is many years old it has only been worn an average of an estimated 40-or-shours a year! It has never been laundered so the loft is virtually 100%! The shell has been sponge cleaned regularly. I just did a quick sponge clean but new owner MAY want to use a good down cleaner or have professionally cleaned by a reputable down cleaner. This amazingly featherlight high loft jacket is designed to be ultralight and super- compressible and incredibly warm. Please understand that the zipper is obviously defective (after many years of use) and will need replacing or repairs!
