RARE VTG 70s PENDLETON CHIEF Joseph WESTERN Wear WOOL BLANKET JACKET Coat NAVAJ. CLASSIC Authentic Vintage 1970’s Pendleton High Grade Western Wear Wool Blanket Coat. Made in Portland Oregon. This is a unique Pendleton with full button-up front and a large warm collar. It shows lots of character in very good condition, you won’t find another one like it! This is the iconic classic made by Pendleton. Vivid colours of gray, green and blue in an interesting pattern inspired by Native American Indian designs, often Navajo. Beautiful, by any name. This rare coat features two big exterior flap covered pockets as well as two exterior chest pockets, and full button up front, warm wool collar, etc. Fantastic and timeless coats, warm and comfortable. All coats fit differently so please follow measurements. Size is not tagged- so we recommend that you measure an actual garment that fits you well and compare the measurements for the best fit. All measurements taken on outside of coat, buttoned and laid flat. Chest taken under arms – 43 inches. Shoulders – measured across the back from seam to seam – 17.5 inches. Sleeve – from collar seam at neck to sleeve end – 31 inches. Sleeve – from shoulder seam to sleeve end – 25 inches. Length taken from top to bottom of coat – 33.5 inches. Bottom edge measured all the way around 45 inches. Condition is very good inside and out. No holes or tears. Plenty of fuzzy ” nap” left on the wool. A very small amount of expected normal wear and minor pilling but nothing significant. There are moth spots and bites throughout coat but nothing significant. You may find it clean and wearable as is, but as with all used items, we recommend cleaning it as there are a few light spots, marks, etc. That should come out if cleaned. The coat is missing a button, the 3rd one down from the top. Please be aware of this if it should bother you. Personally, I would remove one of the buttons from the sleeve cuffs and replace the missing button with it, then put a new button at the sleeve cuff. Timeless, stunningly beautiful “Chief Joseph” pattern Pendleton buttoned wool/cotton blend coat. 5 front buttons. 1 button at each sleeve cuff. 2 exterior waist slit pockets. Turn down collar with small notch lapel. 82% wool / 18% cotton blend. Men’s size S small. Measurements with garment buttoned and laying flat (please compare your measurements to mine). Shoulders – 19 (across the back). Chest – 21.5 (pit to pit). Waist – 21 (across the front roughly at the navel). Sleeve – 24 (tip of shoulder to cuff). Length – 30 (bottom of collar to hem at the back). SIZING NOTE: Sizes vary wildly even with a particular brand. Please measure yourself accordingly and compare your numbers to mine. Here is a guide to help you do this. Shoulders – Measure across your shoulders from point to point. 2 Chest – Place a tape measure under your armpits and measure around the fullest part of your chest. 3 Waist – Measure your abdomen right across the belly button from side to side. 4 Sleeve – Measure your arms from shoulder tip to 1.5 below your wrist. 5 Length – Measure from the base of the back of your neck straight down the back to a point just below your seat, roughly where the middle of your thumbs would rest with your arms at your sides. 1 Waist – Measure around your waist where you usually where your trousers. 2 Inseam – Measure from the lowest point at your crotch to the floor with no shoes on. 3 Outseam – Measure from the top of your waist line to the floor along the outside of your leg with no shoes on. 4 Rise – The rise is the measurement from the crotch seam of your trousers to the top of the waistband. Standard rise is roughly 10 but will vary. 5 Flare – This is the measurement of the width of the trousers at the hem. Standard flare is roughly 8 but will vary. How will the garment fit? If you measure your chest correctly and it is 42 for example, you should in theory where a size 42 coat. For a standard fit, this would mean the pit-to-pit chest measurement of the coat should be roughly 23″ (46″ when doubled). This leaves some room in the chest. This measurement will vary wildly though, depending on such factors as type of fit regular, modern, slim, tailored, etc. The bottom line is to MAKE SURE YOU COMPARE YOUR MEASUREMENTS TO MINE BEFORE PURCHASING to ensure a proper fit. CLASSIC Authentic Vintage 1970’s Pendleton High Grade Western Wear Wool Blanket Coat. Made in Portland Oregon. This is a unique Pendleton with full button-up front and a large warm collar. It shows lots of character in great condition, you won’t find another one like it! This is the iconic classic made by Pendleton. Vivid colours of tan, white, red and orange in an interesting pattern inspired by Native American Indian designs, often Navajo. Beautiful, by any name. This rare coat features two big exterior flap covered pockets as well as two exterior chest pockets, and full button up front, warm wool collar, etc. Fantastic and timeless coats, warm and comfortable. All coats fit differently so please follow measurements. Size is not tagged- so we recommend that you measure an actual garment that fits you well and compare the measurements for the best fit. All measurements taken on outside of coat, buttoned and laid flat. Chest taken under arms – 48 inches. Shoulders – measured across the back from seam to seam – 18.5 inches. Sleeve – from collar seam at neck to sleeve end – 31.5 inches. Sleeve – from shoulder seam to sleeve end – 25 inches. Length taken from top to bottom of coat – 34 inches. Bottom edge measured all the way around 51 inches. Condition is very good – excellent inside and out. No holes or tears. Plenty of fuzzy ” nap” left on the wool. A very small amount of expected normal wear and minor pilling but nothing significant. Maybe a few minor moth spots, but nothing significant. Clean and you’ll likely find it wearable as is, but as with all used items, we recommend cleaning it as there may be a few light spots, marks, etc. That should come out if cleaned. Very hard-to-find Vintage Pendleton style – these rarely come along. CLASSIC Authentic Vintage 1970’s Pendleton High Grade Western Wear Wool Blanket Jacket Coat. Made in Portland Oregon. We have two of these, and many other Pendletons – take a look. This was perhaps the nicest and highest quality coat style made by pendleton. The wool is a little thicker, and the important chest area is, essentially, double-thick wool, due to the way this coat is constructed. This is the iconic classic made by Pendleton. Vivid colours in an interesting pattern inspired by NAtive American Indian designs, often Navajo. This rare coat features two big exterior flap covered pockets as well as two exterior chest pockets, full button up front, warm wool collar, intact labels, etc. Fantastic and timeless coats, warm and comfortable. All coats fit differently so please follow measurements. Size is not tagged – so we recommend that you measure an actual garment that fits you well and compare the measurements for the best fit. All measurements taken on outside of coat, buttoned and laid flat. Chest taken under arms – 48 inches. Shoulders – measured across the back from seam to seam – 17 inches. Sleeve – from collar seam at neck to sleeve end – 33 inches. Sleeve – from shoulder seam to sleeve end – 27 inches. Length taken from top to bottom of coat – 33.5 in. Bottom edge measured all the way around 46 inches. Condition is very good vintage. No holes or tears. This coat appears to have been someone’s favorite as, although there is some wear throughout coat, time was taken to add wool reinforcements around the cuffs and fabric under/along the arms – they look like “professional” repairs and don’t detract from the coats appearance. The buttonholes show some wear and have been reinforced and one buttonhole has been patched. The coat is very solid and has many good years left in it. Perhaps a few minor moth bites throughout coat but nothing significant. We think it is Clean and you’ll likely find it wearable as is, but as with all used items, we do recommend cleaning as there may be a few light spots, marks, etc. That should come out if cleaned.
